EUGENE, Ore. -- Washington State's Alissa Brooks-Johnson, a two-time Pac-12 champion, is in 12th place after the first four events of the heptathlon Friday at the NCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.
Brooks-Johnson, a redshirt junior from Doty, Wash., completed the day with a score of 3,251 points, 492 points behind the first-day leader, Georgia's Kendell Williams' 3,743 points, and only 59 points behind the last scoring position of eighth place. Twenty women completed the first day of the heptathlon.
The first three heptathlon events were contested during the afternoon's cool 57-degree temperature and driving rain.
