SEATTLE -- Washington State junior distance standout, , broke the 14-year old school indoor record in the women's 5000m Friday night at the UW Invitational Indoor meet at the Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle.
Bortfeld, a junior from Sammamish, Wash., ran a time of 16 minutes, 30.30 seconds for ninth place in the elite field in Section 1 of the women's invitational 5000m. Bortfeld broke WSU's indoor record of 16:35.18, run by Anna Blue in 2003 in Seattle. Bortfeld's time is also sixth-best in all-time records at WSU.
