PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State fifth-year senior Michaela Bayerlova captured her first professional title since 2019 when she won the International Tennis Federation Frederiksberg tournament in Frederiksberg, Denmark Sunday.
Bayerlova, from Krumbach, Germany, entered the event as the No. 5 seed and cruised through the event without dropping a set. Two days after defeating the top-seed Sohyun Park, ranked No. 407 in the world, in the quarterfinals, Bayerlova had little trouble with Israel's Nicole Khirin, winning 6-1, 6-1 in the championship match.
The win marked Bayerlova's fifth professional tournament title and should see her current world ranking of 555, a career best, improve when new rankings are released Monday.
