EUGENE, Ore. — Former Washington State track and field hurdler CJ Allen capped a strong showing at the 2023 USATF Championships after finishing fourth overall in the men's 400m hurdles with a 48.18 to book his spot in this summer's World Athletics Championships. With the second-place finish Sunday at Hayward Field, Allen earns a trip to compete in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary (Aug. 18-27).
Allen came into this year's championships with the fastest American time on the season — a 47.58 in the Wanda Diamond League stop Oslo, Norway back on June 15 —and won the opening heat of Friday's 400m hurdles with a 49.
