Abe Lucas was a coveted recruit coming out of Archbishop Murphy high school in Everett, but even the most optimistic fans have to be surprised by the incredible success he has found in his redshirt freshman season. Lucas came in as a 6-foot-7 256 pound defensive end as a recruit and is now a 6-foot-7 280 pound elite offensive tackle. On Wednesday USA Today named Lucas a 1st team freshman All-American after he received the same honor earlier in the week for the website The Athletic. Lucas also received 2nd team All Pac-12 for his performance as WSU’s protecting Gunner Minshew’s right side.
