Ryan Zimmerman has been a free agent ever since the team declined his team 18 million team option for 2020. This came as no surprise as even Zimmerman had acknowledged this was expected. The Nats made it clear they were going to work out a deal to bring back their longest tenured player, but this has yet to happen.
Earlier in the week, I wrote a piece on the Nationals current crossroads, and in it I touched on the Ryan Zimmerman conundrum. As it is now, Eric Thames was signed to a one year deal and will be platooning with Howie Kendrick at first base.
