Wire Taps: How will Washington Nationals’ running game change in 2018? Jayson Werth’s future?

Trea Turner, who stole 46 bases in 98 games in 2017, talked last month about working with a new first base coach now that Dusty Baker’s coach, Davey Lopes, is no longer in Washington.

Tim Bogar has taken over in that role as part of Dave Martinez’s staff. Will Bogar be as aggressive as Lopes, who was/is known as a baserunning and base stealing guru?

“I talked to Bogar a little bit just to get his thought process,” Turner told reporters at WinterFest in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, “but he basically told me whatever works for me he’ll help me and we’ll communicate with that, but like I said I haven’t talked to him much more than that, but I think it’s a matter of just being confident.
