As they began the search for a new manager in late 2017, after they’d decided to move on from Dusty Baker, Washington Nationals’ GM Mike Rizzo told reporters that those within organization, top to bottom, were focused on the ultimate goal for each major league team.
“We’re laser-focused on creating a team and atmosphere and a culture that allows us to win a World Championship for the D.C. fans and to have a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue,” Rizzo said.
“That hasn’t changed since Day 1,” he added at the time. “Expectations are higher now, and that’s where we’re at.
