According to multiple reports this afternoon, the Washington Nationals have dealt closer Brad Hand to the Toronto Blue Jays in return for 25-year-old catcher Riley Adams, a 2017 third round pick by the Jays who made his MLB debut earlier this season.
The team has now made the deal official.
Hand, 31, signed a 1-year/$10.5M free agent deal with the Nationals this winter, and over 41 games this season, the 11-year veteran has saved 21 games in 26 opportunities, with a 3.59 ERA, 18 walks, 42 Ks, and a .203/.302/.353 line against in 42 2⁄3 IP.
