Washington Nationals swept in twin-bill & series with 5-4 walk-off loss to New York Mets on Pete Alonso homer...

Trailing 4-1 to New York’s Mets after six innings in the series finale in Citi Field, Washington’s Nationals rallied to tie it up at 4-4, with one run scoring on a bases-loaded wild pitch by Jeurys Familia, before two more scored on a ground ball through the right side of the infield by Andrew Stevenson, 4-4.

Pete Alonso came up with one out in the Mets’ half of the seventh, however, and hit a walk-off winner off Kyle Finnegan, 5-4 Mets.

Fedde vs NYM: Erick Fedde gave up four hits, two walks, and three runs in five innings of work on the mound in Citi Field back in April, taking the loss in what ended up being a 6-1 game in the Mets’ favor, but the Nationals’ 28-year-old right-hander tossed seven scoreless against New York when he faced Washington’s NL East rivals in the nation’s capital in June, giving up two hits and four walks in what ended up a 1-0 win in which he received no decision.
