The Washington Nationals saw their losing streak extend to five games after falling to the New York Mets 6-5 in 12 innings on Sunday evening.
Outfielder Bryce Harper hit his sixth home run of the season in the first inning to give the Nationals a 2-0 lead, but the Mets answered back in the third when first baseman Adrian Gonzalez blasted a two-out grand slam to take a 4-2 advantage.
Catcher Pedro Severino hit a RBI single in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera hit a solo home run to right field, which put the Mets up 5-3 in the fifth inning.
