Neither GM Mike Rizzo or Washington Nationals’ skipper Davey Martinez placed any blame for the tarp fiasco in last Sunday’s series finale with the Baltimore Orioles in Nationals Park on the grounds crew, whose inability to get an uncooperative tarp over the field led to the two-hour delay and eventual suspension of the game.
“We couldn’t get the tarp on the field,” Martinez lamented.
“I feel bad for our grounds crew, because personally, to me these guys are the best if not one of the best, so it’s just unfortunate that that happened.
