The Washington Nationals are the team “most heavily engaged” in trade talks with the Miami Marlins for their catcher J.T. Realmuto, according to SiriusXM’s Craig Mish:

Realmuto, a right-handed hitting catcher, is a consistent high-.200s hitter, who hit .278 last season on his way to 17 home runs and 68 RBI with Miami.
“Realmuto, who could be a free agent in 2021 at the earliest, bats right handed and was worth 3.6 fWAR in 2017, compared to [Current Nationals catcher Matt] Wieters’ -0.2.”
With a deal for another catcher, Nationals would be looking to upgrade over Wieters, who put up the worst season of his career last season, batting .
