Washington Nationals’ set-up man Ryan Madson was reinstated from the Disabled List today, with right-hander Trevor Gott optioned to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the roster.
Madson, 37, was placed on the 10-Day Disabled on May 20th (retroactive to the 17th) with a chest strain, or as the veteran reliever described it at the time, a strain in his pec after making three appearances in four games on the road in Arizona.
“I threw a lot that week, and also I was throwing harder than usual, with more extension and everything, so it might have been too much,“ Madson explained.
