The hits keep coming for the Washington Nationals, who just got swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a two-day, three-game series in the nation’s capital, lost Howie Kendrick for the season to a ruptured achilles tendon, and have now placed reliever Ryan Madson on the DL with what Washington Post writer Chelsea Janes first reported is “a sore pectoral muscle”.
Madson, 37, hadn’t pitched since going in three of four games during the Nationals’ visit to Chase Field in Arizona last weekend, in spite of the fact that the team played a total of 5 1⁄2 innings before the three with LA, with rain interrupting their homestand.
