Asked earlier this spring about the closer’s role in his bullpen, and whether or not Nationals’ reliever Kyle Finnegan, who in 2022 saved 11 games total for Washington, was lined up to fill it, Nats’ manager Davey Martinez said he loved having the right-hander at the back end of his bullpen, in whatever role he eventually fills.
“We’ll see how the spring plays out,” the skipper said. “Finnegan was our guy last year, and I love him in the back end of our bullpen.
“But it could be that we need him in the eighth inning, as we did sometimes.
