The last two games in Boston saw the Washington Nationals offense break out for a combined 17 runs. Now, they could be getting more help back, especially for their team defense, in a few days. Center fielder Denard Span began his rehab assignment in double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday and will continue it down in low-A Hagerstown on Thursday.
On Tuesday night, Span went 1-for-4 at the plate, which included a single to center field in his final at-bat. All in all, Span’s recovery has been quick when you consider that after he had the core muscle surgery in March, it was being projected for Span to return in early May.
