SYRACUSE (AAA International League): The Chiefs (27-27) dropped the first three of a four-game weekend series with the Buffalo Bison before mercifully getting rained out on Sunday.
Buffalo pounded the Syracuse bullpen on Saturday en route to a 13-4 pasting. Starter A.J. Cole gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts over six innings, then the floodgates opened. Trevor Gott (L, 3-2) allowed four runs in two-thirds of an inning and Juan Gutierrez coughed up five earned on five hits and a walk in one inning.
