Back in June, the Washington Nationals signed Mat Latos to a minor league contract. Last night, Latos made his triple-A debut for the Syracuse Chiefs against the Toledo Mudhens (Detroit Tigers) after pitching three games in the Gulf Coast league.
In addition to Latos making his Syracuse debut, the Chiefs had two Washington Nationals in their lineup as Ryan Zimmerman and Jose Lobaton were continuing their rehab assignments. Lobaton went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts while Zimmerman had a great game at the plate. But, the Chiefs lost to the MudHens, 4-3.
Latos gave up his first run of the game in the second when Toledo led off the inning with back-to-back singles.
