Ryan Zimmerman missed 55 games earlier this season while waiting for the pain from the plantar fasciitis issue in his right foot to subside.
After just eleven games back, however, over which he put up an impressive .302/.326/.419 line, the 34-year-old, 15-year veteran ended up back on the 10-Day IL on Monday, after the issue cropped up again while he was running out an infield single in the series finale of the four-game set with the Atlanta Braves this past weekend.
“He has a slight rupture of his plantar,” Nats’ manager Davey Martinez told reporters before last night’s game was eventually postponed.
