Davey Martinez’s club was shut out for a 20-inning stretch between the ninth inning of the first of four with the Philadelphia Phillies in Citizens Bank Park and the third in the finale of the series, but they put five runs up on Thursday afternoon, only to lose in extras when the Nationals couldn’t take advantage of the runner on second to start the top of the 10th.
