Wilmer Difo wasn’t in the starting lineup for either of Saturday’s game with Chicago’s Cubs in the nation’s capital, but with now-former Washington Nationals’ second baseman Daniel Murphy in town for the long-weekend series, Difo was a topic of discussion.
Before the start of the first game of yesterday’s doubleheader, Difo, 26, had gone 15 for 60 (.250/.297/.533) with three doubles, a triple, and four home runs in 16 games since he took over at second on an every basis.
“His offense has been — he’s really staying on the ball and using the middle of the field,” Nats’ skipper Davey Martinez told reporters before Friday’s game with the Cubbies.
