Talking to reporters before Monday night’s series opener with the New York Mets in Citi Field, Washington Nationals’ skipper Davey Martinez provided updates on a number of injured players, including third baseman Anthony Rendon, who’s been out of the lineup since he fouled a pitch off the big toe on his left foot this past Saturday afternoon.
“Rendon’s toe is still sore, so we’ve just got to play it out and see what happens,” Martinez explained. “He said he’s getting a little better, but at this point he’s still pretty sore.”
At that point, Martinez said, the Nats weren’t considering placing the 27-year-old infielder on the Disabled List.
