Each series is important, of course, but Washington Nationals’ skipper Davey Martinez told reporters before last night’s series opener with the Arizona Diamondbacks that this week’s four-game set in Chase Field was a good test.
“In order to get to where we want to be, these are the teams we’ve got to beat,” Martinez said.
“The Diamondbacks are really good right now. I’m looking forward to today, and trying to win today, and then we’ll move forward from there.”
Martinez’s squad took the series opener 2-1 in extra innings, just their fourth win in 13 one-run games this season.
