Yan Gomes homered for the 100th time in his MLB career last night, and in the process, the 33-year-old catcher, who started this season 0 for 13 in his first four games, extended a six-game hit streak, over which he’s gone 9 for 25 (.360/.385/.600) with a double, triple, and a home run over that stretch.
Talking about Gomes reaching that personal milestone, in what ended up a 3-2 loss to the Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals’ skipper Davey Martinez said he was happy to see his catcher reach the century mark.
“That’s awesome,” Martinez said.
