Washington Nationals’ GM Mike Rizzo told 106.7 the FAN in D.C.’s Sports Junkies during his weekly interview on Wednesday morning that as much as the team has stressed going 1-0 every day and remaining focused on the task at hand, they’re also planning ahead, and the battle for a postseason berth has been underway for some time now.
“We’re playing playoff games right now and that’s the way this team is looking at it,” Rizzo told the Junkies.
Heading into play on Wednesday afternoon, the Nationals were +1.5 games up in the top Wild Card spot, ahead of both the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers, who were tied after 151 games.
