President of Baseball Operations and GM Mike Rizzo will be with the Washington Nationals through the 2018 season, at least, as the Nats announced tonight they had exercised what is believed to be a two-year option for the architect of the organization.
The Washington Nationals announced tonight that the team picked up the two-year contract option for GM and President of Baseball Operations Mike Rizzo, keeping him with the club through (at least) the 2018 season.
The two-year option, included in the two-year deal he signed for the 2015-16 seasons, had to be exercised or declined by June 15, 2016, according to multiple reports.
