Washington Nationals can’t pinpoint what’s wrong with Patrick Corbin right now...

Start No. 2 of Patrick Corbin’s 2021 campaign began with the left-hander and Washington’s Nationals in a 2-0 hole after the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Nos. 2-3 hitters, Carson Kelly and Eduardo Escobar, hit the eighth and tenth pitches of the game from the Nats’ starter out to right field and left-center field, respectively, in Nationals Park, for back-to-back, one-out solo home runs.

Back-to-back walks followed one out later, and the first of the two D-backs to get on, Nick Ahmed, scored from second on an RBI single by Wyatt Mathisen, 3-0.

It was 4-3 in the Nationals’ favor when Corbin came back out for the second, and gave up two singles around a walk as the D-backs loaded the bases with no one out, and tied it up, after a swinging K from Asdrúbal Cabrera, when Ahmed sent a grounder to second, where Josh Harrison booted it on what looked like a potential DP, 4-4, and 5-4 on another walk in the next at bat, 6-4 on a bases-loaded HBP, and 10-4 on a grand slam by Andrew Young.
