Washington Nationals at St. Louis Cardinals: Grapefruit League GameThread...

Max Scherzer tossed three scoreless and hitless, striking out five batters last time out in a win over the New York Mets this past Friday. Scherzer, 33, talked to reporters after the outing in Port St. Lucie, FL about his preparation for the 2018 campaign as he builds up towards Opening Day.

Scherzer threw just 41 pitches in the three innings on the mound, and said he felt good in what was his second start of the Spring, and was especially happy that he avoided giving up a single walk.

“Built off the last start,” Scherzer said, as quoted by MASN’s Mark Zuckerman.
