Veteran infielder Cabrera returns to Nationals

Asdrubal Cabrera is back for his second stint with the Nationals, as he joined the 25-man roster on Tuesday in San Francisco before the game with the Giants.

Cabrera, who can play every infield spot, had just been released by the Texas Rangers. He played in 49 games in regular-season play in 2014 with the Nationals and was part of the team in the postseason.

To make room for Cabrera, the Nationals sent infielder Adrian Sanchez to Double-A Harrisburg of the Eastern League and designated pitcher Kyle Barraclough for assignment. Barraclough had an ERA of 6.66 in 33 games out of the bullpen for the Nationals this year and had been with Harrisburg.
