NEW YORK -- The Nationals will place right-hander Stephen Strasburg on paternity leave Monday as he and his wife, Rachel, are expecting their second child.
Strasburg left the team in New York on Sunday and can remain on paternity leave for up to three days. However, he will not pitch during their four-game series in Colorado this week.
Strasburg is off to a strong start through his first four outings this year, where he has lasted seven innings in each of them. He has a 2.89 ERA with 29 strikeouts and seven walks in 28 innings.
