Stephen Strasburg has been cleared by the Nationals’ medical staff to rejoin the rotation and start on Tuesday in Arizona after several days of testing his back and ankle in pregame throwing sessions at Nats Park.
Max Scherzer was originally scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but he will now start the first game of the three-game series on Monday.
Strasburg threw a bullpen session on Saturday and played catch on flat ground on Sunday. He was removed from his previous outing on May 5 against the Marlins after feeling discomfort in his back.
Strasburg saw a chiropractor on Wednesday and had an adjustment made in his back.
