The Washington Nationals placed infielder Stephen Drew on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday and called up Grant Green.
Drew strained his right hamstring when sprinting up the first base line on Tuesday. He was removed from the game and replaced by Anthony Rendon. Rendon, who is hitting a mere .115 to start the season, was given a day off until then.
Drew played shortstop on Monday because of Trea Turner’s hamstring injury. At the time, manager Dusty Baker said he planned to play Drew on Monday, give him a break Tuesday, then play him again Wednesday.
