NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- According to a baseball source, the Nationals have expressed interest in free-agent right-hander Mike Leake, who played for Washington manager Dusty Baker with the Reds.
The chances of the Nationals signing Leake are "iffy at best." The team has to come up with the money to pay Leake, the source said. It's not known how large of a contract Leake wants.
This season, Leake pitched for the Reds and Giants and went 11-10 with a 3.70 ERA. He played for Baker in Cincinnati from 2010-13 and had some productive seasons. Leake's best season was in '13, when he went 14-7 with a 3.
