ATLANTA -- The longest game of the Nationals' season ended thanks to an improbable rally when Max Scherzer's pinch-hit one-out single ignited a two-run 14th to lead the Nats to a 5-3 victory over the Braves on Saturday at SunTrust Park.
Scherzer would eventually race around the bases from first base on a run-scoring triple from Wilmer Difo, before Spencer Kieboom added some insurance with a RBI single. It woke up a previously punchless Nationals offense that had struggled through the first two games of the series.
