Rendon's 3-run homer backs masterful Gio

BALTIMORE -- The Nationals have not won a season series against their rivals from up the beltway since 2007, but they are catching an Orioles team that has struggled this season. Baltimore is the third consecutive last-place team on Washington's schedule, a stretch of games the Nats want to capitalize on as they continue to make up ground in the National League East.

They took advantage on Monday afternoon with a 6-0 victory, thanks to another masterful performance from Gio Gonzalez on the mound, a three-run homer from Anthony Rendon and some insurance runs tacked on late.
