Anthony Rendon is headed back to the disabled list after playing just 18 games for the Nationals, this time with a strained left quadriceps muscle.
Rendon sat out the Nationals’ games on Sunday and Thursday as he dealt with the injury. He returned on June 4 after missing the first third of the season while dealing with a left MCL sprain and a left oblique strain.
Infielder Emmanuel Burriss was called up from Triple-A Syracuse as the corresponding move. Burriss, 30, is a native of Washington, D.C. and attended Woodrow Wilson High School.
