Kendrick is hitting .343 with eight doubles, one triple, two home runs, 16 RBIs and an .853 OPS in 154 plate appearances, but he has been on the disabled list. Kendrick missed more than a month because of a strained right abdomen, coming off the DL on May 29, and spent three weeks on the DL in June with a strained left hamstring. He was activated from that stint July 21.
The Phillies were motivated to move Kendrick. First, he is a free agent after the season. Second, the Phillies had nowhere for him to play with Cesar Hernandez at second base and Nick Williams, Aaron Altherr, Odubel Herrera and Cameron Perkins in the outfield.
