"At this point, to push him is not smart," Williams said about Zimmerman. "He will continue to strengthen [the oblique], start his [offseason] program, make sure he is on that path and get going again next spring."
Zimmerman played in 95 games and hit .249 with 16 home runs 73 RBIs. Besides the oblique injury, Zimmerman dealt with left foot plantar fasciitis that landed him on the disabled list for almost a month. Williams called Zimmerman's injuries flukes.
"I know he wants to get a good winter in, get strong, get ready to go," Williams said.
