VIERA, Fla. -- Through a team spokesperson, the Nationals said the reports about Bronson Arroyo suffering a labrum tear and his baseball career being over were premature. On Wednesday, it was reported that the right-hander suffered a labrum tear. MLB Network's Peter Gammons tweeted the tear was "80 percent."
"We are waiting for [the MRI] from two years [ago] from another team, so we can compare the [MRI] that we have received yesterday, so we can assess what the damage actually is," team spokesperson Amanda Comak said.
During his pregame meeting with reporters, manager Dusty Baker said that Arroyo had his rotator cuff repaired during the same time he had Tommy John surgery in 2014.
