The Nationals have signed veteran relievers Joe Nathan and Matt Albers to Minor League contracts with invitations to big league Spring Training, the club announced on Tuesday.
Nathan may get a chance to compete for the Nationals' still-vacant closer position -- if he can make the team. The 42-year old former All-Star has missed the majority of the past two seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery in early 2015. Nathan's previous full season came in 2014 with the Tigers, when he posted a 4.81 ERA and went 35-for-42 in save opportunities.
