MILWAUKEE -- Brewers starter Zach Davies stayed hot while the Nationals' Gio Gonzalez hit a rare speed bump in Milwaukee's 6-3 win at Miller Park on Thursday.
Jesus Aguilar hit a go-ahead single in the third inning and Jonathan Villar smacked a two-run homer in the fifth as the Brewers collected eight hits and scored five earned runs off of Gonzalez, who hadn't surrendered that many hits or runs in a start since May. Villar and catcher Stephen Vogt each had three hits in a victory that boosted the Brewers to within three games of the National League Central-leading Cubs, pending Chicago's game at home against the Braves.
