WASHINGTON -- Ben Revere's 2016 season was derailed from the start, as he strained his right oblique on a swing on Opening Day. He spent a little more than a month on the disabled list, and when he returned, he was still far from effective.
The Nationals acquired Revere last January with the intent of him being their everyday leadoff hitter and center fielder. He lost both of those jobs to Trea Turner by July, and eventually, Revere was left off the postseason roster. Now the Nats must decide whether they want to non-tender Revere, making him a free agent, by the deadline this Friday at 11.
