Seeking another lefty for their bullpen before a four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Nationals called up Felipe Rivero from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday afternoon. Right-hander Taylor Jordan was sent down as the corresponding move.
Rivero, 23, joins the Nationals for his first stint in the majors after seven minor league seasons. He was acquired by the Nats in their trade for Jose Lobaton with the Tampa Bay Rays in February of 2014.
Rivero has made three appearances for Syracuse this season with three earned runs and four hits allowed in 2 2/3 innings. He held a 3.
