The Nationals reinstated outfielder Denard Span from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday and optioned fellow outfielder Michael Taylor to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.
Span, who missed the first two weeks of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a right core muscle injury on March 9, was penciled in to play center field and bat leadoff for the Nats as he makes his season debut Sunday afternoon against the Phillies. The move comes after Span went 5-for-12 with a home run during a three-game rehab stint between Class A Hagerstown and Double-A Harrisburg.
