GAME IN A NUTSHELL: After breaking out for 10 runs in Wednesday’s win over the Red Sox, the Nats carried over their momentum on offense to beat the Phillies 5-2 and earn their second consecutive win for the first time in the 2015 season.
On offense, the Nats were keyed by home runs by Yunel Escobar and Michael Taylor. Escobar’s came on the very first pitch of the evening from Cole Hamels, a solo shot to center field. Hamels has now allowed seven solo home runs through three starts this season.
The Phillies would tie the game in the third on a triple by Freddy Galvis and take the lead an inning later on a sac fly by Darin Ruf.
