Erick Fedde gave up eight hits, two walks, and three earned runs over six innings on the mound against the Philadelphia Phillies last week in Washington, throwing 99 pitches in what ended up a 5-3 loss for the 25-year-old right-hander and the Nationals.
“They’re definitely hot,” he said of the Phillies’ bats after he’d faced them.
“They have a lot of patient hitters, I think that’s what makes it tough. Guys aren’t swinging at a bunch of junk, so you’ve got to attack them, and that’s just what I tried to do.
