The Washington Nationals broke from the norm in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft on Sunday night when they selected shortstop Brady House out of Winder-Barrow High School in Winder, Georgia, with the 11th overall pick.
House became the fifth position player chosen in the first round by the Nationals since Mike Rizzo became general manager in 2009. The No. 11 pick is the team’s highest placement since the 2011 draft, when Washington chose third baseman Anthony Rendon out of Rice.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound House could transition to third base at the professional level, but he’s noted for his bat speed and power.
