Nationals second baseman Howie Kendrick ruptures Achilles, out for season

Washington Nationals second baseman and outfielder Howie Kendrick has a ruptured Achilles, according to reports, and will have season-ending surgery Monday.

Kendrick, 34, had to be carted off the field after catching a fly ball in the eight inning of the Nationals’ 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.

Kendrick knows his season is over. Said he thinks positively about every situation, and is going to stay positive here, too.
