Washington Nationals pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in under a week, but there’s still one big cloud hanging over them. Bryce Harper is still on the free agent market, and there have been countless Nationals rumors, about his eventual destination.
One of the main worries for Nationals fans has been the possibility that Harper could end up with the NL East rival Philadelphia Phillies. But according to a recent report has indicated that Washington may not let that particular situation happen.
Jon Morosi of MLB.com reported that “Nationals ownership may feel obligated to match (or come very close to) the Phils’ offer if they believe Harper is on the verge of going to Philadelphia, as opposed to a team outside the NL East, according to one source with knowledge of Washington’s thinking.
